AR Build and BO AR

Well long story short. I was working on a project in December and I got several calculations with a final resolution of 556. Started working in Oil/Gas and used me first pay check to get me an AR-15. Worst time possible but nothing else I could do. I got on B/O a Stag Arms 3G, Guns And Ammo Review.

I've been getting impatient lately because I knew it was going to take several months so I decided to start and AR build. I ordered a stripped lower from SLR precision. I also ordered a lower parts kit from Core 15 and decided to get a Bresser 1x4 scope. Haven't decided if I want this AR to be a Mid-length/ Carbine/ or SBR.

THoughts, comments, suggestions?

I can't really suggest what you should do... but I sympathize.

I ordered a stripped lower about two days after Sandy Hook because I knew stupidity would prevail and people would try to ban this rifle. I have a stripped lower in my safe and I'm ordering the lower parts kit this weekend -- I've finally got one secured.

I'm debating what to do about the parts, though, for the upper receiver. It's really hard to find parts, especially now that I live in a "ban state." My lower is pre-2013 ban, but post-AWB so I'm in this weird grey area. :-/

Back from a much needed vacation. Ordered my next round of parts. I ordered a pistol buffer tube assembly, stripped upper, MI 12" Free Float Rail, CMC trigger, and forward assist. Next item I'll be getting will be the BCG, Charging Handle, and scope mount. Magpul flip up sights and been thinking a 1x Red Dot might be a better option for optics. My current optics will go on the Stag 3G whenever it comes in. Then 13.7" .223 Wylde SS barrel from Rainier Arms, gas block, and muzzle break.

I decided on Rainier for the barrel because I wanted to get a stainless and haven't seen any available at the moment or they've been over priced.

Any thoughts or comments?

That sucks. Yeah I've been just waiting to see what's available. I check the internet every now and then to see if what I want is available. What state are you in?

I too am building my first AR since this crap started. But in KY I'm sure I have more options.
I grabbed a stripped lower and have been adding parts here and there. I don't believe there is much more I can do to the lower.
Now I'm saving for the upper/barrel. I'm also confused on brand. I don't have to have the best, but don't want crap either.

Here is what I started with (all I could find at the time)

DPMS lower
Cmmg lowers kit
Troy Battle ax buffer tube/stock kit
Troy battle mag
Magpul grip
Magpul trigger guard
B.A.D. lever

Here is where I'm at on my build. (I do have the FDE curved trigger guard now too)

I'm just very torn on upper and barrel!
I know I want the Troy battle rail. So will need a low pro gas block.

Btw. This is my first AR-15 and first build. I've never even shot an AR anything. Lol
Hunting rifles, shotguns, and pistols are my history. I even have 1,000 rds of 223 so once I get this built I can go have some fun!

Looks good! My lower parts kit just arrived last night and I'm excited to start on my rifle.

I was into shooting prior to all the insanity and had shot the AR a few times before December. The absolutely false statements about the AR, though, got me more interested in learning about rifles. I then bought my lower. Of course, now it's a pre ban lower in CT, so I'm super glad I jumped on the lower.

The most annoying part about doing this now is the lack or available parts and the price gouging on parts that are out there.

Wow you did do good grabbing the lower when u did! Nice job!
Complete ARs are everywhere here now in stores. But parts are still not as easy to obtain. But they are more and more.
Good luck with the project! I can't wait to finish mine!! :-)

Btw. Do a search on YouTube for putting that lowers kit in. It's so much easier than people made it sound!! Lol.

I just added my LPK to my lower. I can't wait to get more parts.

Although, I learned something useful -- it's frustrating to assemble the LPK with fake nails, hahahahahah. I managed to finish it but I needed tweezers. :P

Proof that it was done with long nails, hahaha. I took these really quick with my iPhone and the quality is crappy, but I thought I would quickly document this.

The lower is from Aero Precision. The LPK is from Palmetto State Armory. I put it together at 11:30 PM with coffee, a manual on how to strip down an M16, and a video by Sootch on Youtube (I love Sootch, hahaha.).

This weekend I received my next round of packages: Midwest Industries SS Free Float 12", Stripped Upper, Forward Assist, AR-15 Tools, Ar-15 Blocks, and CMC Trigger. I placed an order for a Phase 5 Pistol Buffer Tube Assembly and One of their 1 Piece Ambi Bolt Catch.

Now I'm looking for a BCG and Charging Handle. Haven't decided if I want a NiB or Phosphate coated BCG. I'm also going to get a different grip. Read from a few post from a few AR pistol owners that an Umbrella Corp Grip is ideal for pistols, due to the pitch of the grip. I need to post some updated pics of my build and M&P's...
