New Optic for my 3-Gun Rifle

Just got a sweetheart deal on a new optic, $300 for a Burris M-TAC CQB 1-4X24!

My "Low-Buck" 3-Gun Rifle... which has run 100% since the second magazine with every ammo on the planet:

- DPMS "Sportical" 5.56 16" (base gun)
- JP Adjustable Trigger at 2.5#
- Miculek Comp
- YHM Low-Pro Gas Block
- DPMS Rifle Length Free-Float Hand-Guard (Custom Machined)
- MagPul CTR Stock
- Ergo Tactical Deluxe Pistol Grip
- LaRue Tactical SPR-E QD Scope Mount
- Burris M-TAC CQB 1-4X24
- PMag 40-Round Mags
- Taran Tactical Innovations +6 Mag Extension

This 5-year old (5000-6000 round) DPMS shoots 1 MOA groups all day with cheapo 55 grain .223 ammo!

Smokin' "Top-Tier" Rifles alllllll day.

Looks good! I used Leupold's 1-4X 'shotgun' scope on my CAR-15's for years; and in fact still use it on all except one carbine with a red dot and one bench AR with a variable. The 1-4 like your Burris is a great concept on a carbine imo.

Jeff, with the exception of the scope, would you give us a ballpark figure of what it costs to build something like this?

Sooooo... $1500 including on extended mag AND the optic and mount. About $1000 without.

So how does it shoot?

First... The Burris MTAC CQB is a close-quarters optic with 4X capability. It's NOT a precision rifle optic. (See picture) The center dot is a 2.3MOA dot, which means it appears 2.4" across at 100 yards.

My final group? 2.5" across 15 rounds with one called "flier" when a rifle next to me went off a split second before my shot. The flier was only bad enough to make it a 2.8" spread!

Next time out, I'm going to shoot off of the 400yard dot which is only .9" at 100 yards for better precision. I'll try to drop it inside 1.5", which I think the gun is capable of.

Ammo was CHEAP 55 Grain Freedom Arms Re-Manufactured ammo! So we're not talking 77 Grain Match Kings here!

I'm happy so far, but I can squeeze more out of it.
