9mm carbine for PCC

OK, it lacks a bolt hold open on last round making it not perfect, but I wanted a fairly inexpensive 9mm carbine that used my M&P mags. That meant a Gen2 KelTec sub2k.

Long story on the acquisition... I put one on order at my most local gun dealer over 5 montha ago. I stopped in after a month and asked about it. I was assured that since I was on the list that when it came in I would be called. I waited another 4 months and decided to drop in 2 weeks ago. I saw a sub2k on the countertop. It was chambered in 9mm, It also took M&P mags. I told them that we hadn't been home yet (we'd been out) but that if no one else was in front of me that gun was mine and I'd take it right now. The woman next to me said nothing and she'd already filled out the Federal paperwork to possess it. She said nothing. I never got my phone call telling me that it had arrived. I was told that I would have mine in a week or 2 when I asked, but they were very sorry about losing track of me, and yes, that gun should have been mine. I told them that I would be a PITA and check back every week.

A week later I called back to check and the owner begins arguing with me and blaming me for not coming in after I'd been called. He doesn't know it, but our answering machine is on 24/7/365 and there was no call on it, but I knew that. Eff him. The next day I had one through Gunbroker, and had it shipped to another dealer just a bit further away. I got it in my hot little hands yesterday. It seems my closest dealer is too busy to do what they state, so I'll help them with that problem. I absolutely hate it when people don't keep their word.

But anyway, it arrived, I picked it up, and I'm relatively comfortable with it. My powderpuff loads for my M&P are reliable in it and the gun has the "iron" sights sighted in. I cannibalized a red dot from another gun and that too is sighted in. Tomorrow will be my first PCC division match with it. It's not set up exactly as I want, but it's good enough until I have the time and the parts to set it up the way I want. Right now it will no longer fold, so I need a new mount and I want a smaller and lighter sight. I also need to do some work on the trigger. Tomorrows match will be a high round count match and I'm going to enjoy being able to use my extended mags in it.

It's a really decent gun and I quite like it. It'll be my new "Home Security away from home" long gun (but not all that long). It's certainly accurate enough, surprisingly accurate in fact and not at all what I expected. It came with a Pro-Mag and I expected problems with that, but so far 100% reliability with it. But it can be seen to not be as well made as the S&W mags.

Now I need to suppress it, just for kicks.
