Taser XREP shotgun shell

I'm watching Time Warp, a Discovery Channel show that's basically all about ultra-high-speed photography. They just did a segment on Tasers, and I saw what looks like an absolutely ideal home defense round for shotguns, called the Taser XREP.

Basically, it's a complete Taser that fits into a shotgun shell. I can envision it as being the first load in your home-defense shotgun...should take the BG down but not kill him, and if it doesn't work you've still got a 12-gauge in your hands.

To me, that's better than a hand-held Taser, because you've got the lethal option immediately available as your second shot. Of course, you could always go for stingballs as a first non-lethal round, but I think Tasers are probably more effective at stopping people.

Unfortuntely, this seems to be for law enforcement only. If it were available for civilians I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Anybody know where you can get one of these?

Hopefully no where. I've already heard some really nasty horror stories about the XREPs as well as Taser's other new "active denial" system that is used for "crowd control". Both of these devices have been tested in Iraq with some very unsettling results.

Please elaborate. I am a TASER instructor, and haven't heard anything about what you are mentioning. I would like to know if there are issues. The XREP is incredibly expensive, somewhere I seem to remember hearing about $180 per round, but I could be pulling that out of my a--, I mean of the air.
