After doing a lot of research on the web. A little while ago I purchased a Mossberg 930 SPX. After taking it home, I realized the front sight tower was canted to the left. So I called Mossberg and they said to ship it back to them and they would replace it, which they did (after about a month and a half). So I received my new barrel to find...this one is also canted to the left, although not as much. Now at this point I am wondering if it is just me or did I really just get two barrels with the same problem. So I go out and sight the gun in anyways. I sight it in pretty close (7yrds or so) with both buckshot and slugs. All shots are up and to the right. It took me adusting the rear sight all of the way down and all of the way to the left (they are LPA sights) in order for it to be centered. Needless to say that isnt right. So Mossberg will be getting a call tomorrow...again

However, that is not my only problem. There seems to be an issue with a FTF on the last round, every single time. It does not matter how many rounds are initially in the tube, but the last one will not feed. I am not a shotgun expert, but that sounds like it could be a weak mag spring. However, I have also head the argument that if the spring is too strong it will bind up and not feed either. Can anyone provide any input as to either of these issues?

Thanks.

There's been some feedback on the ar15.com shotgun thread about the canted front sight. From what I've read, it's not all that uncommon although Mossberg seems to be making it right. It sucks that the replacement barrel also is canted to the left even if it is a smaller cant. Some folks have had Mossberg send them a new barrel before sending the canted sight barrel back. I've been looking for one myself whenever I go to Dick's Sports but I haven't had any luck thus far.

You mention a FTF on the last round, but don't specify if the bolt is forward or locked back. I'm also uncertain as to how the magazine tube is installed in the frame in the semi.

The Mossy pumpguns had a magazine tube that screwed into the frame. If the tube wasn't screwed in all the way, rounds hanging up on the frame where the tube butted against it could be the problem, or a large contributor. This generally wasn't limited to the last round.

Many semis have a shell interrupter that stops the shell just short of the latch that holds it in the magazine until the bolt is almost at the end of the stroke. If the magazine spring is a wee bit on the weak side, it could be failing to move the last round up against the latch and allow release onto the carrier. Or, it could be a timing issue in the internals. Given all the issues, I'd ship it back to the factory with a detailed complaint letter.

I know you're not going to want to hear this, but the Mossy 930 is not racking up a good record in the various shooting schools.

Lastly, I'd resight your piece at a longer range, then verify the placement in closer. If you have slugs impacting POA/POI at 7 yards, you're gonna be catastrophically high at 25 yards or so. Don't think you'll need to shoot at 25 yards? Don't bet your life on it.
