So this guy that my brother works with was moving and went to grab his 12 gauge to pack it up. He shucked 3 birdshot shells out of it and started to walk it to the car. Only problem is that it had 4 shells in it. as he walked outside he pulled the trigger and shot himself in the right foot. Doctors think that they will have to remove it but he is in so much pain that he was just begging them to go ahead and take it off.
I concur! Except my grandad used to say "keep your booger hook off the boom stick". HAHAHAHA. Same thing I guess. Why did he pull the trigger while it was pointed at his own foot? Even if I've checked my firearms 3 times (as I do because I've got a little bit of OCD) I still point the firearm in a safe direction while dry firing! I would never pull the trigger while it's pointed towards something that it could possibly harm unless that thing is going to possibly harm me! Happy Shooting! -Dirvo-
Just got an update from my bother on the guy. They took his foot off from mid calf down yesterday. He said it was his left foot. The guy shucked 3 shells out off it thinking that his tube only held 3 due to a bird hunting plug. didnt realize that it had one in the chamber. he even sprayed the gun off with cleaner and wiped it down before picking it back up, pointing at the ground between his legs and pulling the trigger. his left foot caught most of the shot as you can see. oh yeah didnt mention that he is a fireman just like my brother. hes 34 been on the job for 3 years. married with some kids.
Big difference between the movies and real life. In the **** we were always weapons hot. It's called trigger discipline. The guy should have looked in the chamber to make sure the weapon was clear and even re-racked the slide to make sure. Like I said, another Darwin moment, stupid is as stupid does.

Every weapon is "HOT". it just sucks this guy had to lose a foot to find out that a gun will only go bang by pulling the trigger. Let this be a lesson to all of us. keep his family and him in your prayers.

Hitting a dog, cat, or a car is MUCH worse than a foot how?
Also, I realize that asking more questions about this now could be pretty touchy, but do you have any idea what kind of load the gun was loaded with? Was it just bird shot?
WHY do I cycle the pump/slide 3-4 times when clearing my shotgun/pistol/etc?
This is why...
