Just picked up a Mossberg 500 12ga with the 18" and 28" Barrels, full stock and pistol grip. This is my first shotgun and I plan on using it for home defense and maybe some sport shooting. Anyone have any suggestions for things I should get for it?

Good choice. I have had my 500 for almost a year. Shoot it often...never had a misfire of any kind.

Three things I did that made it even better.

1. Added a Limbsaver recoil pad: http://www.limbsaver.com/2010/products/fir...x.php#precision

Unscrewed the stock pad, screwed on the Limbsaver. Now even my wife enjoys shooting it as much as I do.

2. Added a LaserLyte SHOTGUN TRI-RAIL MOUNTING SYSTEM: http://www.shop.laserlyte.com/product.sc?p...p;categoryId=-1

3. Mounted a streamlight TLR-3 light to the LaserLyte rail: http://www.streamlight.com/product/p...x?pid=165#tabs

The TLR-3 also fits my M&P 9 Compact. Great light at an affordable price.

Definately a good stock set. Just look all over the place and find a good stock that fits your length, hight, and width. Dont be afraid to spend a little coin if you plan on keeping this shotty around for a while.
