Anyone shot a Ten? I've got an H&R single shot to check out for the weekend. For some crazy reason I've always wanted to fire one and a guy I work with heard me say that and offered his up. Going to stop and get a box of shells in the morning and head out. How much more recoil should there be with the 10GA 3 1/2"Mag over a 12 GA 3" mag?

The kick is really dependent on the load of the shell and the weight of the gun.

A full 3 1/2" Mag 10 Gauge in a single-shot gun (light) should kick somewhere between a large mule and a small bull... I wouldn't suggest shooting the whole box.

From personal experience I've shot a number of single shot 10ga with high brass full loads and they don't hurt anywhere as much is my Rem 870 Super Mag; my 870 is too light to have fun shooting 3 1/2" 2.5oz turkey loads, ouch.

Well, shot eight rounds out of it yesterday and thought it wasn't much worse than my Mossberg 500 with 3 1/2" Mag Turkey loads, worse, but not that much. Only shooting 1 5/8 Oz of shot at 1375 fps. My 76 year old Dad thought it was pretty bad but he still shot it twice more... Brother shot it as well. It was a Harrington & Richardson? Nice case hardened finish, havent seen that on a single shot shotgun before.

I have the NEF/H&R 10 gauge turkey gun,24" barrel, with the rifled choke tube.I use it as my poor mans "Nitro" gun with slugs(albeit single shot).Works great on hogs with slugs.Recoil is stiff, brutal with the factory recoil pad, replace with Limbsaver.Absolutely brutal stopping power at close range.
