I'm new to this forum so I thought I would add my home defense shotgun. Remington 870 with Magpul stock and forend, 18 inch cylinder bore, Mesa side saddle.

I have an 870, 18" with the extended magazine, black stock and forend, I've been meaning to add one of those sidesaddle ammo carriers so I can just grab it out of the cabinet if needed. I see that you have the shells oriented properly for a fast reload, some people put them in brass end up, that's bass akwards for fast reloading.

Pistols are nice, but nothing beats a shotgun for self defense, or any short range work. When I was a Deputy the only time I felt under armed was if we might be going against a rifle.

My son is a police officer in our home town in Pennsylvania. He is trying to give this old dog some pointers.

So far the Mesa sidesaddle has held my shells in place. The Mesa comes with two rubberized inserts one larger than the other that will hold the shells even tighter. The Mesa might be a few dollars more than some other brands on the market but it's worth the better quality, material and streamline fit.

I finished this project up last Fall. The original 870 was a 18"Wilson Combat Scatterguns Technology. The action was smooth however the Surefire forend was way too bulky and heavy.

I got a Remington 870 14" barrel (ATF Form 1) and modified some more.

Mesa Side Saddle modified for single point harness mount.

The stock and forend are Magpul that I picked up at Cabela's. A tool to remove the factory forend comes with the Magpul forend.
