I get what youre saying but my point was to carry something I guess you could call multi purpose rather than 6 different guns with 6 different calibers, sure the mz rifle sucks for a lot of things but it was just an example of a gun with ammo that is undesirable and what is undesirable is usually in abundance when it comes to finding it. But like I said a better combo would be a bow and a good sidearm and that sidearm would probably be for me a 22lr ruger target pistol.

I think its best to have as many options as possible, you never know what will be available in a SHF scenario. I currently have .38, 9mm, .40, .45, 12 & 20 gauge, and 22 LR.

Agreed on the break down pellet rifles for SHTF. I have two Gammo Rockets and 10k pellets. Quiet, accurate to 40 yards and oh did I mention quiet?
But taking a deer with one? Where is the shot placement?

I have .22 LR, .32acp, .380acp, 9mm, .38spl, .45acp, 5.56, 7.62X39, .410 and 12gauge, plus plenty of arms in those calibers.

I Plan on being able to use most any ammo I can scrounge, and is why I have so many different calibers.

If I come across any .40 S&W, .357 mag or Sig, etc. it'll be for trading purposes.

I've never had much interest in the two calibers, as their only users are LEO's, not military of multiple countries.

If I'm wrong, I'll "acquire" pistols in those calibers.

For the deer forget the .177 and go with a .22, right in the skull.
