LOL "... just like mine", then the Catalyst comment "No one has ever returned it". What a load of CRAP. The rest isn't too bad.

I'm getting one if it comes with accessory beards.

He is more like the Justin Bieber for certain segments of the shooting community.

Seriously? You are going to use the ultimate tacticool salesman and pinup boy heartthrob of keyboard rambos to defend your point? Let me guess, the next gun safety expert you will bring up is Tex Grebner.

They're all sold but you can send your M&P to ATEi and have them do all the same work.

COSTA SIGNATURE SERIES M&P ATEi

I apologize for any misunderstanding. I'm a new guy to the gun world and have no idea who Tex Grebner or Chris Costa are. As a new guy it's pretty cool to be able to listen to the opinions of others without personalities being involved.

I enjoyed the discussion on the thread about weapon mounted lights and said so in my post there. Again as a newbie, one of the things I'm considering is a light and these discussions help me weight different opinions and ultimately make a decision on what is best for me and my family for defense.

My comment was my apparently misconcieved attempt at humor. I wasn't trying to make a point at all. I would also apologize to Jason for taking the thread . (Been waiting to use that one!)

Sorry,

Chris is not a bad guy from what I can tell, but he comes from a LE training background and is mostly a salesman who gets people who are into the tactical SWAT/CQB type stuff to buy lots of gear. Some of them have developed a serious mancrush on the guy and they fawn over him like 13 year old girls and Justin Bieber. It's just plain weird if you ask me.

Tex Grebner is one of the tacticool posers who "shot" to fame when he sent a bullet through his leg using a Serpa holster. He posted a youtube video about it as a warning to others and it included a priceless line about how his "training kicked in" and he called his parents. The video is worth a watch.

Don't let 40fan cast dispersion on Chris Costa and make it seem like he isn't a well respected trainer and doesn't have solid credentials. Chris gets grief because he has a lot of fanboys. That doesn't make him any less of an instructor and doesn't mean he doesn't know his shit. Putting him in the same sentence as Tex Grebner is ridiculous.

Costa became famous after a series of videos he did with Travis Haley for Magpul Dynamics. (Handgun, Carbine, Shotgun, Precision Rifle and Aerial Platform)

Here is a trailer for one of the videos:
Magpul Dynamics - Art of the Dynamic Handgun - YouTube

Here is some background on Chris:

Chris Costa - Shares his history and background - YouTube

I have met both Costa and Haley before and and anyone would benefit from their training.

Having said that, I think his M&P is overpriced and not that spectacular.

I didn't say anything bad about Costa other than implying his experience and training is heavily weighted for LE and not private citizens. I don't blame him for the behavior of his fans.

The guy is actually pretty honest about how much of the stuff on his gun is not really needed (you could replace the expensive serations with grip tape and it would work as well) and a $500-$600 gun is what he recommends for most people. Even then people gobble up whatever he is selling.
