I don't know the difference between a 3" barrel and a "snubbie" ? but when you start demanding that much fire power in a small package I prefer the hammerless S&W 640; .357 mag with ported barrel with crimson trace laser.

The hammer on the Model 60 is just one more thing to snag on something and screw-up a quick presentation of the gun. The addition of crimson trace allows the lady of the house to deliver the message without being tactical jane; there is no magazine to fall out and surprise all involved. More than 5 shots required, she understands she should wake me up and request back-up.

A few photos of the bedside nightstand "reading material"; the title of the book is just a little inside humor; I installed magnets in the cover for a secure closure. The maids believe its just a heavy book !

I just like the hammer for the ability to shoot single action if I choose. The 640 is a nice piece, for sure! Lol although the lady next to me is grabbing her p250, lol

As far as snub I consider it anything around 2" or less.

3" ain't no snubbie. Although I no longer own one, my trainer/shooting partner now carries a Model 60 3" on intl. flights. Feels like a mid-size and shoots like a full size, but hides like a compact. In the right hands it'll do sub-1" groups at range, mine are not the right hands as I can't shoot a wheelgun worth beans.

P.S. Our "book" is Dante's Inferno, it was between that and a VHS case for "From here to eternity".

I have one and carry mine a lot. Mine has the adj sights and is quite accurate. I use the Desantis holster sold on the Smith website and it carries like a dream. I was fortunate to find a pre lock model and the uncle mikes boot grips fit my hands well. I use mine for cc as well as when running my beagles and it is never in the way but well capable of anything short of stopping a grizzley. Prior to this I had the 5" version but never really got much use out of that one since it was too long to CC. Good luck finding one. It's been a while since I've seen another, especially with the adjustable sights.

The 442 and 642 models are now available with a 2.5 inch barrel. My next j frames will be one of these models if I go .38 special.
