I'm having the same issues, does it also mount with the cross pin? How is it held in place.

I ordered and installed a XS tritium dot(Not Big Dot) front sight. It's made for a sp 101 or Smith j frame. The tenon on this sight is just a hair wide for the SS slot but a little swipe with a file(one on each side of tenon) and it dropped right in the slot. Easy to install, great upgrade both day and night

Speed Six sight

thanks for the welcome. I installed the sight myself. Tap out the little roll pin, drop(after a teeny bit of fitting tenon to slot) in the new sight, use the red locktite that comes with the sight and clamped it in the slot with a little spring clamp. When it's set up i took a appropriate size bit in a makita hand drill and bored a little on one side then a little on the other till the holes met, drove the roll pin back in and yer done. Sounds complicated, but i'm no genius so if i can do it anybody can. OK i confess it's not a real Speed Six....it's a Service Six that i round butted........Mike

Unfortunately I know all too well about the aging eyes, I had exceptionally good eyesight till my mid 40's, finally had to go to the eye Doctor asking for reading glasses. Well, what a surprise, you don't need reading glasses! Great!!!!!! No, you don't need reading glasses, you need bifocals! Not what I wanted to hear...

The aging eyes play hell with your being able to see the sights.

Trifocals here

I am going to have a chat with eye DR. this time. I look like a bobble head trying to pick up the front sight.

Zoner, did it affect your POI? Are the sights the same height?

xs dot sight

i used the "standard" dot size as opposed to the "Big" dot cuz i was afraid the big dot would shoot lower....the standard dot shoots pretty much to same poa as the factory sight. The sight is much easier to see in broad daylight than the factory sight

Finally went to the DR. Talked CC, he said it was my prescription that is the problem, my eyes have changed. FINALLY ordered the new prescription yesterday. Man, glasses are expensive. Range trip to see if any improvement next Sunday.
